For this 'Floral Poster' series I was inspired by the Australian outback and the native flowers that grow in this beautiful country.Growing up near the Yarra Valley I was constantly surrounded by the native floras like Waratahs, Banksias and Proteas. Their bold colours and textures were often highlighted by the leafy greens from the surrounding gum trees and gum nuts.
I wanted to mirror the soft hues of their leaves and petals by imitating that as the background colour for these posters. The original drawing was done from a range of branches and twigs sitting outside. Scale and tone was important to focus on as the main stem was the most crucial to get right.
This print could be printed just about anywhere and I love the way it celebrates the Australian outback in such a modern way.
